SWACURH History
1954: In 1954, the Midwest Dormitory Conference was held at Iowa State University. This conference brought together four schools: Iowa State University, the University of Colorado, the University of Missouri, and the University of Northern Iowa. This conference, unbeknownst to those at the time, would set the stage for the rise of the Southwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SWACURH).
1955: The Midwest Dormitory Conference and its affiliated organization changed its name to the Association of College and University Residence Halls.
1961: The Association of College and University Residence Halls changed its name to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). In addition, two regional affiliates were created within the organization: the Inter-Mountain Affiliate (IACURH) and the Midwest Affiliate (MACURH).

1991: The North Atlantic (NAACURH) region split to form the Northeast Atlantic (NEACURH) and Central Atlantic (CAACURH) regions.
